From this original oil and wax abstract painting, Donoghue has imbedded the words,"In God we trust". The words are found on United States of America currency and my be found on license plates or State flags across the country. The words although very close to the verbiage of the Bible in Psalm,Corinthians or Proverbs; it is somewhat universal and is actually found in the Quran. This alteration for the use of greeting cards or posters has been created during a time of unrest and the historical destruction of statues and arts in America and the world. The destruction is made with little understanding of the stories and realities behind the commissioned art. It is interesting to find words that cross many worlds, religions, yet is challenged by an antiracist group, claiming to be justice for people of color. In attempt to cling onto hope and Gods resolution these words are placed in this form to inspire hope, trust and Love of this country and the Holiness that holds all of us up.
Donoghue scans her work in high definition, so that the print purchaser has many choices in sizes and materials for their specific designer needs. This particular piece looses very little texture or detain in its print reproductions as the surface of the original is smooth.
