Description
Only bare lightbulbs for lighting hanging from the original wooden beamed ceiling, it takes a bit for your eyes to adjust from the bright daylight outside, to the dimly lit lighting on the inside of this original Hubbell Trading Post. Hanging from the ceiling are yokes, still used today by some of the people to till their land. Canned good, utinsels, pots, coffee pots, line shelves. Some who still live in Hogans, use these items for cooking on the central stove of their round homes.
One of the oldest Trading Posts on the great Navajo Nation in Arizona, this Trading Post was operated by the Hubbell family for 90 years.
Today, many people in and around the Ganado, Arizona area, still come to trade and purchase food staples. Tourists come to buy beautiful hand woven rugs and handmade jewelry. It is truly a wonderful place to learn of the Navajo People's history, culture, and lives.
