Two wild paint horses. Sometimes called wild pintos. These were west of Cody Wyoming in the spring.
The Montana Pryor mountains are in the background. The one on the left is a rare colored. It has four colors
white,black,tan and red .
The eyes of a horse are larger than most other animals', and they can move independently,
giving the horse a shallow panoramic vision. Because its lenses are inflexible,
a horse will focus on an image by moving its head to direct light rays to the
central part of the retina. Horses can also see in color, although it is more difficult
for them to see purples and violets, they have less trouble with yellows and greens.
The scientific name for the horse is equus caballus.
Red horses running through a cloud of dust. Technically called monocular vision, horses can use both eyes to look at two different
objects since they are on each side of their head. Hence, they can use one eye to
watch the front, and another to watch the back in case predators are around.
Horses cannot breathe through their mouth. When their nostrils become obstructed, they could suffocate.
There are over 150 different breeds and types of horses.
