Honeybee On Tea Tree Blossom
Photograph - Digital Photograph
05.17.22: THANK YOU to the precious customer from Worthington, Ohio who purchased a Beach Towel with my "Honeybee on Tea Tree Blossom" photo. Greatly appreciate your support! May this bring you much enjoyment. God bless you!
A honeybee is hard at work gathering pollen and nectar from a tea tree blossom (Leptospermum) in the hills above Mill Valley, California near San Francisco on a glorious spring afternoon.
These VIPs -- Very Important Pollinators -- are truly a marvel to behold and a joy to watch as they go about their daily activities.
It is a reminder of how fragile the ecosystem is when you consider the fact that fully one-third of all crops are directly or indirectly pollinated by these beneficial insects. Recently, it is estimated that the number of crops planted worldwide that depend on bee pollination has increased by 300%.
Yet, each year about a third of beehives in the U.S. are lost to various causes being investigated, including pesticides, diseases and parasites, flowerless landscapes and large farms growing only one kind of crop (lack of bio-diversity).
Since the 1940s, the number of beehives in the U.S. has declined by one-half.
We can each do our part to reverse this steady decline and help with the recovery of these Very Important Pollinators -- by using safer, natural alternatives to pesticides, planting bee-friendly flowering plants, and encouraging our friends and family to do the same.
There are approximately 20,000 species of bees; many are important pollinators.
A honeybee hive can have as many as 40,000+ individuals, each with its own unique purpose and task.
Often when we observe nature, creation itself beautifully illustrates important and valuable life lessons.
We can look to the example of the honeybees, each with their important specialized task which they perform with the highest work ethic.
Each and every one of us has been endowed by the Creator with unique callings and gifts to walk out the special destiny and purpose for which we were created.
1 Corinthians 12, the chapter immediately preceding the great Love Chapter in the Bible, explains it well :: like the beehive illustration, there are many members of the body of Christ with diversities of gifts, each performing their respective important function. The Scriptures point out with elegant humor the stark reality :: If the body members were all one "eye", where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?
"But now there are many parts, yet one body. The eye cannot tell the hand, 'I don't need you!' or in turn the head to the feet, 'I don't need you!' On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be less important are indispensable. Those parts of the body that we think to be less honorable, we clothe with greater honor; and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty; but our presentable parts have no such need. Rather God assembled the body, giving more honor to those who are lacking, so that there may be no division in the body, but so that the parts may have the same care for one another. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer together. If one part is honored, all the parts rejoice together" (1 Corinthians 12:20-26, Tree of Life Bible).
That's why I count it a joy and an honor to be a member of the Fine Art America community of artists. They truly care for one another and uplift and encourage each other. I've found this wonderful family of artisans to be among the most supportive and inspiring of any with which I've come in contact.
And just think..... this whole discussion started with a picture of a honeybee fulfilling its important mission in life. How I respect and appreciate the wisdom of the divine Creator portrayed in nature. :-)
Grateful to God and thankful to the group administrator for featuring this image on the Fine Art America group::
