Facts about poinsettias: Poinsettias are part of the Euphorbiaceae or Spurge family. Botanically the plant is known as Euphorbia pulcherrima. The showy part that most people think of as leaves are actually colored bracts, or modified leaves. In these leaves that appeared simply red and green, I even discovered purple. Hidden colors are often found in my nature images. I delight in these discoveries.
