Historic Bass Harbor Lighthouse
Photograph - Photographs
Bass Harbor is my favorite lighthouse. I think I have visited this iconic lighthouse more than one hundred times. It never gets old and I always visit this place when I am on Mount Desert Island. I love how it sits on the rocky cliffs, looking down and out at the ocean protecting the boats from crashing up on the rocks. In this photo, the tide is going out or just coming in..but we can see the tide pools that are created when the tide is out. There are so many periwinkles and barnacles exposed when the tide is out. This iconic lighthouse is not to be missed when you are visiting Mount Desert Island.
