I had hiked the trail to an overlook of Exit Glacier, just taking photographs do it no justice. This time there were two hikers who had crossed the wash and were hiking up to the toe of the glacier. Seeing the two hikers that close to the glacier really puts the massive size of the ice chunks in to perspective. One of the hikers was photographing the glacial runoff as it flowed from the underside of a huge block of ice. I think next time I would like to hike down through the wash and get that view looking up!
Exit Glacier is the primary destination for visitors to witness up close the power of the glaciers. It is also the home to the Exit Glacier Nature Center and the trail head for the Harding Icefield Trail. - Kenai Fjords National Park Alaska
