Poppies are often grown for their colors for decorating and art. The flowers die shortly after blooming. They can be almost any color from white, red, orange, gold, yellow, and more. Poppies are in full bloom in late spring and early summer. The pollen of the poppy is dark blue.

Notice the center of this and all red poppies. The centers are dark and very clustered. I also have orange poppies posted and their centers are more sparse and delicate.
The title for this image came about as i tried to photograph the flower wide open but every time I moved away so my shadow wouldn't fall on it, the wind gentle brought up the leaves around the center and formed shadows.
