Hermit's Bath Time
Photograph - Photograph
Lifelong hermit Nik Hougen wanted to take a hot bath every day, even though he lived Utah's rugged Desolation Canyon, without running water or electricity. His solution was to fill an ancient wheelbarrow with cold river water and allow the desert sun to heat it during the day. Then, in the afternoon, when the temperature of the water had reached 90 degrees or so, he would strip and climb in, scrubbing off the day's accumulation of grime.
