Description
You can see from the patina that this is a much-loved, well-worn chair passed down through four or five generations. My son recovered it for me, and today it has a special place in my home.
Someone suggested that I paint the chair, but I wouldn’t dream of doing so. Many special hands have worn it smooth over the years, and the feel of that patina is priceless. I remember most of the ways it was used by each member of the family—my mother (at her desk), and my grandmother (at her treadle sewing machine, on which she taught me how to sew). It came from her mother, my great-grandmother.
