Iris are one of my favorite flowers. I have planted them in my front garden and look forward to seeing them bloom every spring. For me, they are a sure sign that spring has finally arrived.

My grandparents had a flower shop and greenhouses and I can't remember a time when flowers weren't an important part of my life. I remember watching my mother draw them when I was a kid and she was doing ads for her best friend who was a florist. Her friend would come to our house with huge bouquets of flowers and my mother would arrange them and then draw them. It is a lovely memory to have of my childhood.
