Description
The Crane - Hawaii State Bird. From the first trip I made to Hawaii, tourists were always jokingly told that the crane was Hawaii's state bird. That first trip was in 1973 and the joke has been perpetuated all these years. It's true. No matter where you look out over the horizon, you will see a construction crane, even a few cranes, in any direction. This one was photographed while I was on the sidewalk at Ala Moana Shipping Center in Honolulu. I happened to look up at the clear blue sky and this is what I saw.
