The harpy eagle is one of of the largest eagles in the world. Although it is the national bird of Panama, it is near endangered throughout Mexico and Central America due to habitat loss and hunting. Various projects have been initiated to attempt to conserve and restore its numbers as a species. This harpy eagle was photographed in Soberania National Park, Panama.
