This is a Golden Opportunity to live and enjoy the perfect day – one in which the sun shines warm, the sea is calm, the sailboat clips through the water, and the closeness and warmth of friends reminds us of the aspects of life that truly matter.
Not everyone can own a sailboat – indeed, in our society it has become a sign of prestige and wealth, evidence to others that we have “made it” and are worth more, somehow, because we spend more. But this reduces sailing to nothing more than a comparison game, and demeans its beauty.
Golden Opportunity invites the viewer to join in the group of friends on the sailboat as a treasured, valued, and invited guest. This is our golden opportunity to be with the people with whom we will create memories – perhaps these are people we know well, such as family and close friends. Or perhaps these are friends of friends, and we don’t really know most of the people on the ship – but by the end of the day, we may very well have made new friends and friendships, friendships that extend into life off of the sea and onto land.
At the least, we have created memories – memories of a day on the water in which nobody looked at their phone, nobody checked their email, nobody agonized because their latest post on Facebook did not garner enough likes. This day, this Golden Opportunity, is one in which we are out in the fresh, pure air, marveling at the beauty of light reflecting off the waves – in the process, creating a gold of its own unmatched by any piece of jewelry.
