Description
Baby it's cold outside and I am processing photos inside!!! Oooo it was cold outside when I took this photo in January 2017, but not nearly as cold as it is today!! I decided to have a little fun with this shot and add some sun rays in the upper right corner! I love the peach color it creates over the black and white photograph of the Goddard Mansion in Fort Williams State Park in Cape Elizabeth Maine. This building has been photographed so many times by numerous photographers, including myself and I have taken so many senior portraits here too, so I decided to mix this one up a little bit. It's different, but I love it!! I find it so enjoyable to think outside the box from time to time!
Here is what I found out about the Goddard Mansion from the Portland Headlight and Fort Williams web site: https://portlandheadlight.com/what-to-do/goddard-mansion
"Predating the fort, the mansion was designed and built by noted New York architect Charles A. Alexander for local businessman John Goddard, briefly a volunteer army colonel at the start of the Civil War in 1861. Acquired by the army in 1900, the mansion was used as NCO Quarters (non-commissioned officers/sergeants), and later included an NCO Club. Seriously deteriorated by the time of the town’s acquisition in 1962, the interior debris was burned in a controlled fire in the 1980s, and the walls were fenced off in 2009."
This building is so fantastic and is a must visit when in Maine! Enjoy!
