Description
Rhyolite, Nevada was founded in 1904 and by 1907 even had electricity. The Cook Bank, shown here, had marble floors imported from Italy, mahogany woodwork, electric lights, telephone and inside plumbing! It was 3 stories tall and cost $90,000 to build. This is all that stands of the Bank today. The financial panic of 1907 took its toll on the town and businesses started to shut down. Then, the mines started to play out and by 1916 the power and light company had shut down and the people had moved on.

I'm fascinated with old architecture like this. This one has an especially interesting story to go along with it. You did a wonderful capture of it.
George Buxbaum replied:
Thank you Elizabeth. AT old places like this, I always try to image what it must have been like living here when the town was alive and thriving.
