Description
Photographic artwork by Cindy Treger. Photographed at the Gettysburg Battlefield in Gettysburg, PA. In 1850 Maj. Gen. Gouverneur Kemble Warren graduated second in his class from West Point. Before becoming the army's chief engineer, he had commanded a brigade and regiment. At Gettysburg on July 2, after recognizing the importance of Little Round Top, his men rushed the Union soldiers there to defend it. His monument actually stands at the top of Little Round Top, and was dedicated in 1888. In later years Philip Sheridan relieved him of the 5th Corps command at Five Forks.

A magnificent figure so truly captured. It reads that " Warren was relieved of command not from a performance that resulted in a defeat, but in the wake of victory". 14 Years later, "Warren will ultimately be cleared of the charges and exonerated." It seems that Sheridan was not up to his heroic reputation in the case of Maj. Gen. Warren! Wars within and without! I enjoy the image of this soldier though so much! L/F

Such class in all these works, but such death on the field. A great study Cindy. There is a company that does all the work for the gift shops at Gettysburg. Forget their name, but call the shop and get it. They would love to see the series and maybe buy the rights to same. Great work.
