A Freedom Train toured the 48 states in 1947-49, Hawaii and Alaska were not part of the states at that time. It carried carried the original versions of the United States Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Truman Doctrine, and the Bill of Rights on its tour of more than 300 cities in all 48 states. Marines attended the train and were selected to help visitors view the famous documents.
