Description
This monotype collage is a tribute to Dr. Maya Angelou...
As sad as I am to hear of Maya's Home-Going... I sit here in reflection, trying to Celebrate the LIFE of an AMAZING WOMAN!
I was fortunate enough to meet her in person twice: Both experiences touched me in ways too visceral to fully describe with words.
A dear friend took me to see her just after my son was killed and she literally embraced me with so much love and tenderness until it felt like she reached inside and cradled the very essence of my soul. My very closest friends know how I, too, love this richly gifted and talented woman... she has always been one of my favorite authors... and most likely, she always will be.
This Gelli Plate monotype was created using acrylic on heavyweight drawing paper; I then collaged one of my painted ladies to the print.

Thank you very much, my fellow artists and friends! I’m so grateful for this sale and feeling blessed to share the news. Been seriously ill for nearly 2 years... had to stop painting after surgery in July 2016... am thrilled to finally get the news that after this second surgery (Nov 2-17), I’ll be able to start painting again soon!
