Fourth Of July Flower
Artist
Ken Powers
Medium
Painting - Watercolor On Paper
Description
I found this flower on the fourth of July and thought it would make a fun watercolor painting. I experimented a bit and had a lot of fun putting this one together. It is painted entirely with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# paper. The original is 13.75"x9.75" in size.

Wow, Ken - I love this one! So bright and cheery! So glad you are no longer afraid of yellows. Outstanding work!
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Bette! Luckily the subtleties of the yellows came through in the scan. Yellow can be a tough one to digitize properly.

Thank you Arie! I wasn't sure about the background but decided to proceed with reckless abandon!

Thank you Christi! I am still not sure about the background but it will have to do!

Beautiful. Yellow doesn't phase you does it Ken? I know lots of artists shy away from it. Glad you don't.
Ken Powers replied:
I used to shy away from yellows (especially after repainting my bathroom 3 times because yellow is a tough one for me to pick) but I have gotten over my fear. I also used to really avoid purples.
