Four Peaks, Arizona
Painting - Oil On Canvas
My oil painting of Four Peaks, Arizona. I attended a book fair in Payson last spring. On the way this scene came into view. I knew I would paint it.
Four Peaks is a prominent landmark on the eastern skyline of Phoenix. Part of the Mazatzal Mountains, it is located in the Four Peaks Wilderness. on the Tonto National Forest, 40 miles east-northeast of Phoenix. In winter, Four Peaks offers much of the Phoenix metro area a view of snow-covered peaks. Not surprising, all the numerous mountains that surround this valley in all four directions are full of hiking trails.
The tallest peak at 5,000 feet, Brown's Peak is the highest of the four. It spans all the way to Mt. Humphreys, the tallest peak in the state, near Flagstaff to the north.
