Description
Ford Thunderbird, 1957 model, fabulous mint green color.
A fine-art print of this image would make great wall art in a man cave or a garage, or a nice gift for a classic car buff.
The Ford Thunderbird was an automobile manufactured by the Ford Motor Company over eleven model generations from 1955 through 2005. The Thunderbird created a market niche known as the personal luxury car. The 1955 model was a sporty two-seat convertible. It included a removable fiberglass top, had fender skirts and a V8 engine that delivered 18 mph. The exhaust pipes exited through twin bumper guards that were bolted to the rear bumper. In the 1956 model, more trunk space was added, the spare wheel was mounted outside freeing up trunk space, the exhausts were moved to the ends of the bumper, and air vents were added behind the front wheels to improve cabin ventilation.
In the 1957 model, shown here, the front bumper was reshaped, the grille and tailfins were made larger, and larger tail-lights were fitted. The spare wheel was moved back inside the trunk, which had been redesigned to allow it to be mounted vertically. The side "Thunderbird" marking was moved from the fins to the front. The car weighed 3134 lbs, had a 206 hp engine, a manual 3-speed gearbox, a top speed of about 100 mile per hour, and delivered a gas mileage of 12.8 mpg.
