Illuminated are the Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo. The Duomo known as the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore was begun in 1296 and completed in 1436. Standing at a height of 376 feet at its highest, the Duomo is a landmark of Florence. Spanning the Arno River in the city of Florence, Italy, the Ponte Vecchio is a landmark in that historic city. The first bridge on that site was made mention in 996AD. It was destroyed by a flood in 1117 and reconstructed after that only to be swept away again in 1333. Two central piers are said to have remained, It was rebuilt in 1345.
