Description
Located on the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park, Chasm Lake fills a deep cirque carved from the base of Mt. Meeker (13,911'), Longs Peak (14,259' and the highest point in the park), and Mt. Lady Washington (13,281'). The famous east-facing wall of Longs Peak known as "the diamond" rises 2,456' above this calm alpine lake which sits at 11,760'. Starting two hours before daybreak I made my way up the 4.2 miles to the lake mostly in the dark and arrived a little before sunrise and just in time to capture this image of the early morning summer light casting an orange glow on the peaks and surface of the water.

As soon as I spotted this image, I knew you had to work for it. Well done Brian; your efforts have paid off! L/F
Brian Kerls replied:
Thank you Joy, I'm glad you like it. It did take some work getting there in time and battling the early morning winds.
