You might want to try shooting later in afternoon 5-8 or between 7-9:30 am (golden hour) when the light is not so harsh, and then your shots are not over exposed. Also, use A (aperture setting) shooting mode, if you have a dslr camera instead of automatic. Good use of negative space on this and I bet the roses look and smelled fantastic.
