Description
Often regarded as a pest, the European Starling still has some striking markings. The adult in breeding plumage has a distinctive thin, pointed, yellow bill, and red legs and feet. The feathers have buff, whitish or brown tips with allover black plumage highlighted with an iridescent green and purple gloss on much of the body. All the European Starlings in North America descended from 100 birds set loose in New York's Central Park in the early 1890s.
