Description
Erwin
Meet Erwin, she...yes she is from Nebraska and spends her winters here in Florida. She was banded when she was 3 days old in the summer of 2011. Since then she has been wintering at my favorite local beach every year. Yesterday I emailed the great folks in the School of Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska to let them know she made the trip safely. They were thrilled to know she is here as she didn't show up at her nesting grounds this summer. Last summer she raised 5 chicks (an uncommon amount). I guess she took this summer off and just had some fun.

Phyllis ~ Thanks so much. I used to feel the same way but from what I've read they are very light and don't seem to bother the birds.

Great capture and story, Meg, though I do worry about the weights of those bands on her delicate legs! She is a pretty one. V/F
