Endangered Beauty - Whooping Crane

Description
Only hard-core birders would expose themselves to seawater, cold, wind, sun and threatening storms to catch a glimpse of an endangered species. Im not a hard-core birder, but was dying for the chance to see these regal birds. I got my opportunity. Between taking photos I admired their graceful movements and almost dainty eating habits. Whooping Cranes (Grus americana) are majestic birds. In the 1940s only 15 of them were still alive. Listed in 1970 by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as endangered this species has recovered to almost 600 today. They are the tallest bird in North America and migrate to the coastal waters of Texas during winter.
