I took this shot of the side of Elisabethenkirke, Basel from the back of Theatre Basel. It was build between 1857 and 1864 and was the first church built in Basel after the Reformation. Today it forms part of the Evangelical-Reformed Church of the Canton Basel-Stradt.
It is of neo-gothic design, the most well known in Switzerland. It is the home of the first Swiss 'Open Church' and caters to the spiritual, cultural and social needs of urban people of all backgrounds. It is well known for it's blessing of the human-animal relation and also holds frequent healing/blessing services. The church is also known for it's gender aware spiritual practice.
