Description
ONE OF MY SOLD IMAGES and AVAILABLE AGAIN
The former Dr Pepper Bottling Co. built in 1944 in Bellville, Texas, rendered in black-and-white sepia, and showcasing its unique original rock facade and vintage version of its famous logo, which has undergone changes through the years.
This building has changed owners (and uses) a number of times since we started coming here as a family around 1980. At the time this photo was taken, in late 2009 or early 2010, it was a restaurant that served Lone Star cuisine. In the 1980s, it was a potato chip factory. On our way to Round Top, we would stop here with our children to watch potato chips being made. We had no idea it originated as a Dr. Pepper Bottling Company. The spikey roofline and original stone were hidden beneath stucco. Today the former bottling company is a Mexican restaurant.
Wikipedia explains why we see a period here after Dr: "The period (full stop) after Dr was used intermittently in Dr Pepper logos until the 1950s when, after some debate, it was discarded permanently for stylistic and legibility reasons. A logo that debuted at that time had slanted text, in which Dr. resembled Di:"

Thank you, Terry Cobb, for featuring my new submission, "Dr. Pepper Bottling Co. Bellville 1944" in Seen But Not Noticed. I've been in this building several times, and passed it by dozens of times, and never could have imagined its history! Finally someone took the rock facade down to its roots, and voila! Dr. Pepper!
