Double Decker Orioles

Description
Double Decker Orioles not to be confused with Baltimore Oriole Baseball team nor the delicious double decker Oreo cookies.
The distinctive, orange-colored birds can be hard to spot preferring to feed from the higher branches of trees looking for insects. This female Baltimore Oriole was busy grabbing straw material from our strawberry plant baskets to make a nest. Her male companion would be spotted somewhere high up in a nearby tree making sure the coast was clear. The female colors are more yellow while the males color is a vivid orange.
The coat of arms for Lord Baltimore is the origin for the bird's name because of their similar colors. Lord Baltimore was known for his promotion of religious freedom.
The bird favors fruit, nectar and insects and prefer the high branches of trees while searching for insects.
