Description
These pretty wildflowers are called Cosmos and can be seen in gardens as well as the meadows and fields. I had my macro lens out and captured this honey bee enjoying the nectar from the center of the flower. I thought it was cool that it had one leg on another flower petal as if to tag it for the next one to investigate. It didn’t mind me being so close taking its photograph. I also loved the lavender purple pink tones of the flowers.
Honey bees fly and make nests of wax for storing honey. We need bees to pollinate our crops so please do not kill them. This is a western honey bee. People also use their wax for candles and lip balm. They are very important to our environment.
Cosmos flowers (Cosmos bipinnatus) are also called Mexican Aster. They are considered a cottage garden flower and are easy to grow. They bloom Summer through Fall in a variety of colors.
