Near the town of Lenno along the western shore of Lake Como in Italy lies the Sacro Monte di Ossuccio (literally "Sacred Mount of Ossuccio"). It is one of the nine sacri monti in the Italian regions of Lombardy and Piedmont in northern Italy which were inscribed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 2003. It is a devotional complex consisting of 14 chapels, constructed between 1635 and 1710, that lead up to a sanctuary. The chapels are meant to invite you to meditate on the ‘mysteries’ of the Rosary. This is the fifth chapel entitled The Disputation between Jesus and the Doctors in the Temple. None of the chapels were open but you could often peek in the windows or doors if they were not totally blocked off. This chapel was built in 1683 by Giovanni Mainoni di Volesio and adorned with statues of 21 people and two dogs by Agostino Silva in 1688 (date indicated in several places in the chapel).
