The Denver Millennium Bridge is the world's first cable-stayed bridge using post-tensioned structural construction. Built in 1999 it anchors the west end of the 16th Street Mall.
The Denver Union Station Redevelopment Project was initiated by the Union Station Neighborhood Company and enabled the development of eight city blocks of public land The project encompassed new eight-tracks of commuter rail, three-tracks of light rail, a 22 bay underground regional bus facility and 10 acres of urban plazas/open space. Private development enabled eight city blocks of commercial/residential mixed use in the Union Station neighborhood. Those included 1.5 million sq. ft. of office, 2000 residential units, two full service grocery stores, 1000’s of sq. ft. of retail and restaurant along with 400 new hotel rooms, many of those included in the renovation of the Union Station building interior. The project started in 2010 and the public infrastructure opened in April of 2014.
