Dan’s Sunset by Dale Kauzlaric -- Last Wednesday, April 24th, was my brother Dan's Birthday. Thinking of him during the day, I thought I would go out and sit by the lake and take in the sunset. When I got down to Lake Wausau near Rothschild in Marathon County, Wisconsin, I looked for a spot I had shot from before. As I got to what I thought was the spot, I looked out over the lake and saw an osprey land in the tree at the end of the point in front of me. As I looked out from here, I was wondering if this was actually the spot (I had not been here for a couple of years), so I went farther to the south. I didn’t see anything better, so I headed back to the other spot. I sat there for a couple of hours and watched the sunset progress. Clouds were heavy at first, then the sun came out and it was almost blinding. I had some critters come by and also a couple of kayakers were probably taking their first voyage of the year. As the sun neared Rib Mountain or Granite Peak, some clouds started to come from the west, perfect. This image was taken just as the sun disappeared behind Rib Mountain. I like to think of this great sunset as a celebration of Dan's life, because it was enjoyable to take it in that evening and I know how much he liked being on the water, as I do.
