As I strolled at Mercer Botanic Gardens, Humble, TX I found myself drawn to a quiet, hidden corner of the swamp. Towering cypress trees rose from the water, their textured trunks standing strong against a surface completely covered in floating green. No reflections, just a rich, velvety layer that made the water feel almost solid. In the foreground, vibrant foliage framed the scene, but what truly caught my eye was the blue heron standing in front of one of the trees. Its cool tones stood in stark contrast to the earthy hues around it, a solitary figure in perfect stillness. For a moment, I stood there too, just watching, caught in the quiet rhythm of this untouched landscape.
