Description
This drawing combines a lot of my favorite shapes/symbols and subject matters close to my heart. There are 4 * symbols , 1 x, multicolored lightning above the eye, and tears flowing from the eye. The reason I like to use eyes in this part of my artistic journey is because a person’s eyes can tell so much about them, but only if someone takes the time to notice. The eyes are also how we express much of our emotions and what we see the world around us through. That being said, this pastel is about a person being strongly affected by lightning like events and emotions in their life. As the black of darkness and despair crackles around them, mingled with the red of anger and orange frustration, it starts to overwhelm them and affect their view of the world. The fuschia and black surging up from the bottom is depicting how a person’s past painful experiences can still deeply hurt and trouble them, welling up into their mind and inner being and eyes where true friends can see it. When these two collide, they can cause the blue of depression found in the eye and tears that are full of pain-like tears made from blood. And that’s what some of this drawing is about.
