Description
Cuckolds Station & Lighthouse is a lighthouse on the southern side as you approach Boothbay Harbor. We were making our way up the Maine coast to Mount Desert Island and this is one of the many lighthouses we saw on our way north. "A dramatic, offshore fog-signal station and lighthouse built on two rocky islets that rise about 15 feet above high water in the westerly edge of the channel at the entrance to Booth Bay. The station opened in 1892 as a fog signal station. In 1907, it grew to include a lighthouse. A recent community initiative rescued the old station." (https://visitmaine.com/things-to-do/lighthouses-sightseeing/cuckolds) I have never sailed this far before in my life and to see so many lighthouses off the coast of Maine was amazing. The Maine coast is very rocky and dangerous and I can see why we have so many lighthouses. They serve a purpose when the weather isn't cooperating. I wish you fair winds and following seas.
