At the bottom of the multi-tiered spillway, there are manmade pennisulas on both the South and North side leaving a more narrow opening where the water flows to the river. I like going out on those to get pictures of birds as it is a great feeding area. I was watching to the East when my husband said, "Turn around, some fish are trying to go back up the spillway!" So I watched and saw some jumping out of the water one at a time...never thinking I would have the timing right to catch a shot of it happening!! Great Salt Plains State Park where the lake goes over the spillway and into the Salt Fork of the Arkansas River in Northern Oklahoma.
