Courthouse Butte is a must see red rock destination in Sedona, Arizona. If we can believe the local legend, nearby Cathedral Rock was supposed to be called Courthouse Butte, and Courthouse Butte was supposed to be called Church Rock, due to its close proximity to Bell Rock and its church bell symmetry. However a mapmaker in the 1800s mislabeled the formations and the names became part of history. It does not matter how this remarkable rock formation got its name, it is a fabulous point of interest in Sedona, Arizona.
