Description
My fascination with dunes continues. We spent three days at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in southern Colorado. This image was captured during early morning hours when sun angle was low and we were alone on the dunes. I enjoy the contrast of angles as well as the contrast of light. This very simple image can be divided into three main design elements - the ripples in the foreground fading in the darkness, the shadow band in the middle, and the far dune face in the background. The contrasts between these elements, light and texture, is what appeals to my eye.
