Clearwing Hawk Moth On Teasel

Description
Clearwing Hawk Moths, also called hummingbird moths, are daytime fliers that feed mostly on teasels and honeysuckles, but they visit all manner of flowers. They fly like hummingbirds, hovering at the flower with their front feet resting on it. I think they kind of look like crayfish - LOL.

Dedicated to the beautiful, flying creatures that pollinate our gardens!

Wow, fantastic capture dear Carol!! Almost spring like around here, but it has been fairly cooler than normal this year. Looking forward to warmer weather and wonderful visitors. Hope you are good!!
Carol Senske replied:
I've seen some butterflies already - not many but five or six kinds. I hope that is a sign of. nice butterfly summer:>). Thanks for coming by and commenting!!

How clever you were to capture the blur of the wings! It's a lovely shot. F
Carol Senske replied:
Thanks! Actually, it happened this ay even with a high shutter speed because their wings beat so fast (like a hummingbird). It does give the effect of fast motion, though. It was a "happy accident" (Bob Ross said that often).

Carol Senske replied:
Many thanks, Michael:>). There was a Mourning Cloak Butterfly out this afternoon - spring is truly here!

Such a great looking moth, incredible colors! f/v
Carol Senske replied:
Thank you, Mike. They are lovely and remind me of flying lobster:>). This red is, in true life, a little more like maroon and he green is just the tiniest bit more like olive. I'm a little better now with trying to get the colors exactly as I saw them. They are really beautiful moths.
