Description
Seeming to be a lightly visited spot along I-40 in New Mexico, Church Rock is impressive. I especially like the obvious cross-bedding displayed in the mid section of the formation. We didn't have time to hike up closer but plan to in the future. We were the only ones there in August. There were numerous prairie dog colonies near the trail head. They are a fascinating creature to watch.
This black and white version is my personal preference as I think it emphasizes the impressive shape of this rock formation.
