So the background of the shot is one big softbox to blow out the background. The front is lit from a 45 degree angle with the Alien Bees studio light through a large octagonal softbox with some poster board on the other side to keep the shadows from being too dark. I use the big huge HiLite softbox for my funny man series. Its set at two stop above the foreground to blow it out. Sometimes I'll use the adjustment brush in Lightroom to clean it up. There is only one studio light blasting inside that huge softbox.

Panasonic Lumix G3 micros four thirds camera with prime lenes - I use Alien Bees 800 studio lights and a HiLite 5 x 7 softbox, poster board reflectors, shoot in RAW format and Adobe Lightroom 4 for post processing.
