Description
This is part of a Christmas Cactus in my mother’s garden that started to bloom proudly out. The California weather was turning cooler at nights so it flowered at the end of each cactus leaf. The soft pink bloom is the stand out for this succulent and the bright stamens of the flower made a nice macro close up study.
Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera x buckleyi) are actually considered a hybrid plant and there is also a Thanksgiving cactus that looks similar. They bloom during Winter and can grow up to 2 feet tall! They are a tropical plant in origin. They are also called Holiday cactus or Crab cactus. They bloom flowers in colors of red, pink, purple and orange.
