Description
Objects Appear Closer in the Mirror is what one might say when they look at the Chicago Bean. The Chicago Bean is also known as Cloud Gate was constructed in 2006 and is made up of roughly 170 highly polished stainless steel plates. It is a fascinating sculpture to look at and see how the reflections change as you walk around it. The city skyline and the clouds always seem to be a little richer in color as you can see by this photograph. Rain or shine, this well worth the visit with your camera. Bear in mind, there will be a lot of people if you visit during the day or even in the early evening hours. If you want to get a picture with very few people, you almost have to get here around 6 in the morning.
What I wanted to do in Millennium Park is make something that would engage the Chicago skyline ... so that one will see the clouds kind of floating in, with those very tall buildings reflected in the work. And then, since it is in the form of a gate, the participant, the viewer, will be able to enter into this very deep chamber that does, in a way, the same thing to one's reflection as the exterior of the piece is doing to the reflection of the city around.
