Description
During the early trucking days, I never minded running Chicago. For a long stretch I ran Omaha/Chicago twice, sometimes three times a week. Most generally, in the beginning, the meat loads went downtown into what was known as “Fulton Market”. Turn off of I-90 onto West Randolph, west a few blocks past Harpo Studios (now demolished) then north on Aberdeen I believe, into the meat district. I’ll save THOSE memories for another time.
If I regret anything from my routine visits to one of the largest cities in the U.S., it is not being able to inspect more closely the famed architecture the city has to offer. On countless trips along I-90/94, the only view I had of this steeple, was from a raised portion of the Interstate. I NEVER had the opportunity to see the entire building, and could only imagine that the ground-level portion of the structure was just as wonderful. I’ve just begun sorting through over 90,000 photographs I’ve collected from my time on the road, and this was inspired from hundreds of pictures labeled simply, “Chicago”.
