Description
Chicago – Skyscraper
It was in Chicago that the world’s first skyscraper rose up – and the city’s energy and dynamism has had a lasting impact on architecture throughout the 20th and 21st Centuries writes Jonathan Glancey.
The first tower on the left is the 41-story Prudential Building completed in 1955 and was the headquarters for Prudential’s Mid-America company. It was also the first skyscraper built in Chicago since the Great Depression of the 1930s and the Second World War.
The second tower from the left is Two Prudential Plaza and has 64 floors. At 995 ft. tall, it is the sixth tallest skyscraper in Chicago and the seventeenth tallest in the United States.
The third tower from the left is the AON Center with 83 floors completed in 1973. At 1,189.30, it is the fourth tallest skyscraper in Chicago and the eighth tallest in the United States.
All proceeds will be donated to Chicago's Cornerstone Community Outreach in honor of photographer Richard Cleis, 1965-2021.
