Description
Sometimes a picture just needs to be in color. The Chicago Riverwalk is also known as the Second Lakefront is an absolute must-do for any tourist visiting Chicago. It spans the entire length of the Chicago River from the lake all the way to the Lake Street Bridge. The city started construction of this park back in 2001 and it has been expanded upon frequently and recently.
In view is the Wrigley Tower and the Irv Kupcinet Bridgehouse built in 1924 and 1930 respectively. The large stairs on the right are part of the Vietnam Memorial and are an excellent place to catch the afternoon sun. A lot of times you will see people taking their lunch hour during the week on these stairs on the far right. There is also a waterfall just outside of this picture to drown out the traffic noise from Wacker Drive.
Had I not spied the seagull standing on the concrete light pillar, I would have kept on going. I thought all the vertical elements made for a strong photograph.
All proceeds will be donated to Chicago's Cornerstone Community Outreach in honor of photographer Richard Cleis, 1965-2021.
