Description
On the left is the Monroe Building on 104 South Michigan Avenue and was built in 1912. They just finished restoring the lobby and it's well worth stopping in to see it. . . fantastic work! There is also the Pritzker Military Museum & Library on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. It is indeed an impressive collection of books and gallery exhibits all contained in one of the more beautiful libraries that I've been in. The view out the windows with oversized leather couches, hardwood tables. . . is very nice.
On the right is The University Club of 76 East Monroe Street and was built in 1908. The University Club of Chicago is a private social club. It received its charter in 1887, when a group of college friends, principally alumni of Harvard, Yale, and Princeton, founded the club hoping to further their collegial ties and enjoy "intellectual" pursuits. The club's centerpiece, Cathedral Hall, was based by Roche on Crosby Hall in London. I've seen photos of this cathedral hall and it is . . . impressive.
All proceeds will be donated to Chicago's Cornerstone Community Outreach in honor of photographer Richard Cleis, 1965-2021.
